Hearts of Harmony Chorus
Contest 2024 - ‘A party INDEED!!! Glitz & glam, bonding, regional camaraderie, eyelashes, red lips, big stage, bright lights, and the singing! Oh my, the singing, not only on the stage, but in the hallway… the lobby … the elevators, and at the mass sing.
A great sense of pride was felt by all. We were swept away by the experience and filled with excitement as our 5th Place Overall medals were hung around our necks. This tangible acknowledgement heightened our emotional experience. We strive for excellence, we focus on the entire experience, and we enjoy the journey because we love to sing, but oh those medals! They do generate a special magic.
Membership - It was joyful to see how our younger members (ages 10, 13 & 14) were impacted with their personal experience at Contest and well-earned medals! Their smiles were the biggest and their joy was contagious! Perhaps their excitement will transfer to their friends and entice a few additional younger voices into the chorus!
Active pursuit of ‘ways and means’ to encourage membership growth is a key focus of ours. We have a membership drive via an Open House planned for June 17th with a booth set-up at our local Farmer’s Market to advertise it, along with posters, FB and word-of-mouth!
Each and every one of our members are incredibly important to the chorus, but we have one who is shining particularly brightly this year - none other than Elizabella MacKenzie (14) who was recently crowned Miss Teenage Red Deer AND Miss Teen Overall High Score Alberta! She also won five elective categories at the pageant – if math is correct, that translates into 7 crowns!
Bella is an incredible young lady who possesses an arsenal of talents, however we are certain that her involvement with the chorus serves her very well when it comes to her stage presence and confidence, and contributes greatly towards her pageant successes.
As a Hearts of Harmony member, Bella has a chorus of support behind her as she directs her attention towards Miss Teenage Canada in Toronto this summer! Her talents are many, but we’re confident that SINGING should be her Talent Show entry. We wish Bella every possible success!
In our regular life post-contest, we are happy to be learning new music and we’re having a blast this spring, singing out at a few community-based senior lodges before we take our summer break! Our audiences are the best!
There’s more! We are hosting the Regional Fall Workshop in 2024, so watch for more details about that and we look forward to welcoming YOU there!
