Joey Minshall - ACE Award 2021
Congratulations to Joey Minshall on receiving the ACE Award for 2021. Joey is truly the epitome of all that the award represents. She has been an inspiration in Region 26 for many years. As a director, an arranger and a coach she has spread the love of barbershop and her amazing arrangements around the world. Search Joey’s name on Google and it is apparent how far her influence has spread.
The ACE award (Achievement, Contribution and Excellence) was created in 2017 to honour those members of Region 26 who go above and beyond in our region. It is not an annual award but is kept as a very special event for very special people. Prior winners are Corrinna Garriock and Mary Hager, both very deserving of Region 26’s top recognition.
The recipient of this award:
has maintained a membership in Sweet Adelines for at least 20 years with a significant number of years and a strong grassroots connection in Region 26;
has made significant contributions at the chapter, regional and international levels;
has consistently demonstrated a “heart for service” beyond her personal achievements within the organization by:
demonstrating personal qualities of determination, courage, integrity, respect and appreciation for and encouragement of others, consistent with the Core Values of Region 26;
and/or, being a ‘trailblazer’ in some area of endeavour consistent with the Core Values of Region 26 and Sweet Adelines International; and/or,
inspiring others and leaving a lasting legacy in some area of endeavour or accomplishment consistent with the Core Values of Region 26 and Sweet Adelines International.
I think we can all agree that Joey Minshall meets all the criteria and more, and deserves whatever accolades we can give her. Due to covid restrictions, there was a lot of ‘behind the scenes’ planning required before the presentation. Team leader, Leslie Mackay, contacted Yvonne Meyer and Queen Lynn Tatton to arrange a physical presentation. Queen Corrinna Garriock and Joan Codyre, both long-time friends of Joey, did a masterful tribute. Thank you to all who pulled off a wonderful surprise for a wonder of a woman.
