Lions Gate Chorus

From the first time she heard the joyful sounds of Sweet Adelines at a Region 13 chorus contest in 1981, Elaine knew it was meant to be. She sat through 30 competing choruses and enjoyed every minute. A short time later she was in Texas for some education and saw a poster advertising a Rich-Tone Chorus Show. Elaine called the number and when the lady on the other end of the phone asked if she wanted tickets, Elaine said, “NO, I want to join.!” Thus began a long and illustrious relationship with Sweet Adelines. A few years later, Elaine moved back to Vancouver and joined Lions Gate Chorus where she sang in the front row. Five years later she moved to Westcoast Harmony Chorus where she became Assistant Director, and in 1991 became the front-line Director for the next 9 years. Elaine directed Westcoast to many Regional Championships and attained a high score of 611 but there were other things also keeping her busy. In her years of directing the chorus Elaine sang Baritone with, BRAVA! the 2004 International Champion Quartet. …the first ever all-Canadian quartet champions from right here in Region 26!!
