Alberta Gold Summer of ‘24

Singing at the Calgary Stampede

ALBERTA GOLD’S SUMMER OF ‘24

Wow, where did it go? Is it really fall and we’re still getting summer weather?

Alberta Gold celebrated 40 years of being our wonderful little chorus last May and had a celebration with our only chartered member, Pat Loria, and her family being there with us. We all held up a sign of how many years we’d been a member and had a little celebration as we’re always so good at doing!

We had our June party and Board Installation to kick off summer and we were to wear a floral decorated hat for ‘Flower Fusion’. Lots of laughs and our wonderful new Board was warmly welcomed by all chorus members.

We had lots of fun entertaining on the Window on the West stage at the Calgary Stampede, one of our favourite sing-outs of the year. We got a picture beforehand by ourselves and with Harry the Horse, the Calgary Stampede mascot. We enjoyed singing for everyone and then got back on the bus, to our cars, so had to get a photo with our bus driver!

We had three weeks off during the summer but we were, and still are, learning new songs for our upcoming show Feb 21st and 22nd, 2025. We are also looking forward to taking part in Field of Crosses in one of their Sunrise Ceremonies getting ready for Remembrance Day. I believe this is our 11th year and we feel so honoured to be asked to do this once again.

We will end the year with a couple of Christmas sing-outs and our annual Christmas party but I’m sure there’ll be photos on those later. Who doesn’t love getting ready for the Christmas season, bringing out all the songs we love so much and usually adding one or two new ones!

That’s it for Alberta Gold, till next time!
