Region 26 Celebrates Our Members

Music Educator Award

The International Board of Directors of Sweet Adelines International has requested that Regional Management Team members and Regional Young Women in Harmony Coordinators submit recommendations for the Sweet Adelines International Music Educator Awards. The Board will select the recipients of these prestigious awards at their June meeting with awards being presented at the International Convention that follows.

Established in 2016, the CMEA (Canadian Music Educators’ Association) Award is open to Canadian educators who are members of both CMEA and Sweet Adelines International and who have shown excellence in music education. The CMEA award is presented in conjunction with the NAfME and EMEA awards.

If you would like to nominate an educator who is a member of a music education association other than NAfME, CMEA, or EMEA, please contact education@sweetadelines.com with information about the organization.

Last year there were many qualified nominees for these awards. Please do not hesitate to update the nominations for previously submitted candidates and resubmit them along with your new nominees. You may submit more than one candidate. We frequently hear reports of members who devote their time and energy to promoting barbershop style a cappella and the study of music, including the Young Women in Harmony program, and it is our wish that these members are recommended so that they can be recognized for their efforts. For a list of past award recipients, please visit the Music Educator Award webpage.
Nominees must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the award:

  • Nominee must be a music educator.

  • Nominee must be a member of Sweet Adelines International.

  • Nominee must be a member of CMEA (Canadian Music Educators’ Association).

  • Through her talent and dedication, the nominee must have made outstanding contributions to the furtherance of music education in public and/or private schools by promoting the barbershop style as an American art form.

  • Nominee may not have been a previous award recipient.

Please complete and return the attached recommendation form (you may duplicate as needed) along with a recent photograph of the nominee by May 1st of this current year, to region26education@gmail.com for submission by the Region.

Kindly keep in mind that the International Board of Directors make their decisions based solely upon the submitted materials, so please be thorough in your submissions. Additional pages may be attached to the recommendation form as needed and high-resolution photos are encouraged.

Thank you for taking the time and consideration to recommend possible recipients of these very special awards.
