Hearts of Harmony, Red Deer, Alberta

Director:  Sheryl Brook

Our Hearts are singing!!! We worked HARD throughout the pandemic, or ‘despite the pandemic’!  A year & a half of Zoom rehearsals with amazing leadership who did everything possible to keep us connected, motivated and singing. We had special guests zooming in, we played games, we danced, we shared stories, and of course we sang!

Pandemic performances:  Videoing ourselves singing alone in our homes was challenging. Many of us understood the concept but didn’t really understand the technology that would transform our solo efforts into a group performance – until we saw the results. Our Christmas videos were wonderful, and we were thrilled to share them with grateful audiences who were shut-in due to the pandemic. The opportunity to share harmony during such a challenging time was an incredibly rewarding experience. Check us out on YouTube….

Returning to live rehearsals in February 2022 was wonderful. Coming together in person was a happy & joyful reunion!  We obeyed COVID protocols, and it worked! We remained safe AND we were surprised (despite Sheryl’s reassurances) to discover that even while singing in masks, our sound was not muted, altered or muffled.

During ’Sparkling Through in ’22’ (photo above), we competed in masks and were thrilled to come away with two medals!!! Second place in our category and fourth place overall. Whoot! Whoot! This result encouraged, motivated and inspired us to continue pushing forward and improving our vocal skills. Saskatoon 2023, here we come!

Currently we are delighted to rehearse carols for the Christmas season, followed by February Retreat, and then delivering our first live show in 2023!  (We invite you to join our audience & experience our performance, so please: Save the Date - June 17/23)

Always in pursuit of new members AND performing at events, we've posted bulletins in our respective communities and submitted articles to local magazines inviting community interest. We encourage our chorus members to feature Hearts of Harmony on their personal social media platforms as well.

Recently Hearts of Harmony hosted the Regional Fall Workshop featuring Region 26’s amazing faculty. Wow! They shared reams of knowledge with everyone, which was delivered with energy, emotion and enthusiasm - they took us on a journey. It was an experience, and we were honored to host this event.

Being the host chorus, Hearts of Harmony were fortunate to be ‘placed on the risers’ by the talented Sandy Marron. Initially we sang to a very appreciative audience. We sang once again following placement and discovered a new depth and richness to our harmony. It was palpable, evoking emotions and a standing ovation.

Hearts of Harmony chorus was very happy to welcome so many of you, to meet you, to learn and sing together. What a success!
