Lions Gate Wraps up its Championship Year

Performance in Gastown with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra

We have been busy since Regional in Edmonton, preparing for Kansas City, but also performing for the community, and taking a little time to socialize in the summer.

In August, an incredible opportunity was presented to Lions Gate Chorus, who got to sing before a massive audience in scenic Gastown, accompanied by the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra! It was a highly memorable event, directed by Elaine Cotton, one of our very talented Assistant Directors.

We had the pleasure this summer of discovering the amazing dolls designed by our very talented “Sew Sisters” Judy Taylor and Bonnie Lavallee. Every new international champion chorus and quartet get a coveted spot in the doll case at HQ in Tulsa (a tradition going all the way back to the 1940s), and our LGC Sew Sisters, Judy & Bonnie, created not one but *two* dolls, representing Sandy and all lionesses, and Sandy’s nightmare subconscious!

The chorus had a fun filled social this summer at the home of one of its members. This time to relax and simply enjoy the company of fellow riser mates, was most appreciated by all in attendance.

Our Swedish Choreographer, Janne Alexandersson, was brought over in September, for two very full evenings of coaching, filling our heads with all sorts of new moves for Kansas City!

With only a couple of weeks off this year, the chorus has been working extremely hard getting ready to perform our Swan Song Set in Kansas City, creating an auditory and visual experience for the world to enjoy.

It seems like just yesterday that we sang our Nightmare package in Kentucky, and now here we are, perfecting another performance which we hope entertains you all, and continues to make Region 26 proud!
