Pacific Edge Chorus - Oh What A Feeling

Congratulations to our Directors, leaders, Arrangers, Fundraisers, Board of Governors, choreographers, and to many Committees - to the resilient members of our Pacific Edge Chorus for staying the course. By weathering the choppy tides of our era, it is you who brought us to this win of 1st place AA Division; 2nd place Overall; Most Improved Chorus and Most Growth in Membership Awards in the 1st post covid Region #26 Competition and 1st ‘Virtual’ contest of our organization, April/May 2022.

We could not have gotten here if it weren't for the determination and drive of our Director Julie Smith and her Team. Julie's commitment earned a full chorus supported nomination for the 2022 Carol Poole Spirit Award and a reputation as an inspiring resource of knowledge and vision for our Region #26 to draw from in its endeavours.

There are stewards in our chorus who feel the spirit and potential of its members - be it musical, organizational or physicality etc. These stewards have an insight that goes outside the norms of just showing up. Their demeanor is such that they do not exploit the commitment in an intimidating way by posing grand expectations of others, but by simply sharing, they encourage and stimulate curiosity and involvement.

Stewards revel when they see and hear the joy of a new member singing their first tag or experience their first public performance, or competition. To see a member grow to realize they can do things they never thought they could or would ever do, is a rewarding payback for every bit of sharing – like residing on the board of a gold medalist chorus or MCing a public community sing out/show or performance. Chairing a successful, public Show graced with a standing ovation or organizing a chorus tour – WOW!!

A warm welcome here to our newest member Barb Robinson who passed her audition just days ago – a joyful addition to our Bari section.

MARITIME TOUR - The excitement of our members is electric right now, as the late June departure date of our long-awaited Maritime Tour approaches. This carefully planned post -covacation never came off the table and is now materializing – Sing outs, performances with the locals, a mountain of sightseeing, Caleigh’s and lobster dinners await. A special Thank You to all the members from our sister choruses who jumped on our band wagon to join us and sing with us along our Maritime Tour. You won’t be disappointed.

SHOWTIME - Our 'Some Knights’ Banquet and Show scheduled for November is finally going to happen after three years of cancellations due to – well, you know. We never stopped the music for this medieval event – we just kept adding to it – so that it is now bigger than life. Readying for this huge event will first on our agenda upon return of the Maritime Tour.

Sporting a winning medal on our chest is so rewarding, but it is not the end goal. Being a part of something much larger and moving it forward through growth and continuity is the real objective – goals achieved along the way is more like a tasty gravy – and there's always tons of gravy cooking in the Sweet Adeline world, so we best keep our ‘edge’ sharpened for the next competition.

Never stop thinking about tomorrow, even after it arrives …
