Alberta Gold Chorus

Alberta Gold Chorus is thrilled to announce that Krista Willott has joined as our new director! And Krista is super excited to be with the chorus! It’s been a whirlwind few weeks – she did her audition, was welcomed with open arms, and just experienced her first coaching day with the wonderful Sheryl Brook.

Krista has a wealth of musical experience: she is a music teacher, active in local theatre and musical theatre, sings with Revv52 (rock choral) and Festive Voices a capella quartet. She is also a very fun and enthusiastic person to be around.

Watch for Krista at regional competition where she’ll be rocking a first-time competitor ribbon and making her performance debut with Alberta Gold, directing our competition uptune!

Alberta Gold would like to thank Holly-Jean Kadonaga, our outgoing director. Holly-Jean stepped into the interim role in a time of turmoil for the chorus, and was the rock that kept us going. She became for-real director in 2009, and we are so grateful for her patience and perseverance, and her dedication to this chorus. She joins the risers in the bass section and we’re very glad to have her beautiful voice in our harmony!

Looking back over the past few months – it’s been busy and satisfying. We had a number of Christmas performances (finally feel like we are moving beyond COVID) and welcomed a new member to the risers during this time. We had a booth at a Christmas market – sang for the patrons and handed out business cards and concert invitations. We look forward to more community events like that.

We returned to our annual retreat and Entheos retreat centre, and had a great weekend of coaching with Jo-Anne Killips. We also had a lot of fun and silliness.

We are really looking forward to a return to in-person competition, and wish everyone the best for a great convention weekend. See you in Saskatoon!
