Hearts of Harmony Chorus
Our chorus thrives on a warm, supportive atmosphere with members contributing to both our sound and camaraderie. We are passionate about singing and enjoy our time together. After summer, we returned energetically in the fall, ready to impress Sheryl (Brook).
We commenced our season focused on enhancing our vocal performances, interspersed with celebrations of Halloween, birthdays, welcoming new and returning members, and preparing for our Christmas repertoire. While we appreciate social activities, our primary commitment remains to our shared passion for singing.
Performing during the festive Christmas season is a significant aspect of our schedule. It is immensely satisfying to witness the positive reactions from the audience upon hearing our harmonies. This year, receiving encores at the conclusion of each performance has been particularly rewarding.
‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ was part of our repertoire this season & as you can see, we have our very own fairy dancing in the wings! So let it be known – if you aren’t going to sing the song, we’ll pressure you to perform it in some fashion! Hahaha….Sheila (Mckay) was such a good sport to perform her lovely ‘dance’ for us at our Christmas party!
AND we thoroughly enjoyed a new arrangement of ‘I Need a Silent Night’ by Cathy (McDonald). We staged the pic below of us giving her a hard time regarding some ‘difficult’ measures in her arrangement – she’s also a very good sport!
We have been known to have ‘fun in the hall’ as reflected in our photo gallery.
Whether it’s sharing laughs, sharing the challenges with new musical pieces, or simply enjoying the pure pleasure of singing together, our chorus thrives on the bonds we create and the memories we make. Our rehearsals are not just about perfecting notes and harmonies; they are about building a community where every voice matters and every member feels valued.
Our monthly birthday celebrations are SO MUCH FUN when we ‘lei’ the birthday girls and sing a pretty jazzy Happy Birthday song to them!
Our annual Watch Party was another highlight of the season. Gathering together to watch performances from other choruses inspires us. It's always fascinating to see the creative ways other choruses interpret songs and the innovative choreography they incorporate into their performances.
As we moved into the new year, the excitement only grew. We welcomed several new members who quickly became part of our musical family, bringing fresh energy and perspectives to the group. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and they have already made a significant impact on our sound and spirit. We are also thrilled to announce our newest Quartet: Heartbeat (Elaine Campbell, Tracy Ward, Donna Potts & Melanie Pedersen)
Singing at local events, nursing homes, and charity functions allows us to share our love of music with a wide audience and make a positive difference in our community. These experiences are immensely rewarding and remind us of the powerful role music plays in bringing people together.
Hearts of Harmony Chorus is pleased to have sponsored the Safe Harbour Society this year by collecting 'warm' donations from our members, which adorned our 'Warming Tree' at our Christmas Concert. Additionally, cash donations were collected at the door allowing us to present a substantial cheque to them as well.
Looking ahead, we have a packed schedule as we prepare for competition in Surrey, BC, appear at more performances, participate in workshops, and social events. We are particularly excited about our upcoming spring concert ‘Nothing But Blue Skies’, which promises to showcase not only our musical talents but also the strong camaraderie that defines our chorus.
We are ready to take on new challenges, learn new songs, and create even more unforgettable memories together and we are thankful to our friends, our families, and to our public for sharing our journey.
