We have a new rehearsal space with ample break out spaces & windows….YAH!!! Our 2023 Christmas show was already booked in this space and riser storage was made available. Win win win. Our new location is in a Langley, BC church, in a residential neighbourhood. We impressed a young girl walking by with her dog so much that she dropped into a rehearsal….hmmm…new beginnings?
We have two new members and one member who returned from a leave. PLUS recently, two very special guests have attended rehearsals & plan to audition soon - one has returned to Canada after living in Switzerland for 28 years; the other is a Ukrainian Refugee who moved to Canada in January 2023. We feel fortunate to attract our International guests!
PAC’s summer sing outs were outdoor performances. A return to a Sounds of Summer, a weekly Wednesday evening summer festival in Langley, and the Heritage Railway in Cloverdale. We shall be performing again at the Railway in late September & during the Christmas season. Also, we are invited to perform for a benefit concert by First Capital barbershop chorus for the Langley Christmas Bureau. Harmony Hollow is an annual Labour Day weekend barbershop camp gathering of Lower Mainland & Northwest Washington singers. It returned after a 3 year pandemic hiatus this year. Many former & current PAC members attend HH. It is a tag singing extravaganza; quartet contests extraordinaire. A platoon quartet contest was introduced in 2023. PAC director Elvera’s – a first timer HH – platoon quartet won the gold medal.
September brings a new round of coaching. We started with Karri Quan who performed the magic of riser placement.
The majority of the PAC management team attended Region 26 workshop September 10/23 weekend. They returned with a myriad of new ideas for the chorus.
Future is a-looking bright for the PAC.
