Rhythm of the Rockies – Moving Forward!

Resilience. Perseverance. Leadership. Singularly and collectively, we continue to exercise these traits to keep our members healthy, our choruses together and our organization strong.

In stride with these traits, we are moving forward and joyfully announce that Jo-Anne Killips has agreed to be the front-line Director of Rhythm of the Rockies! Our talented Jo-Anne, or Jo as she is known as by most of us, has been our Choreographer, Assistant Director and phenomenal baritone since the inception of Rhythm of the Rockies. We couldn’t be more excited that she’s accepted the role! Jo isn’t new to directors’ spotlight as she directed one of our largest shows, Life is a Highway, in 2017. And since 2020, she has been directing and enthusiastically supporting us through the challenging “covid era” of on-line rehearsals. This fabulous soul brings 30 years experience with Sweet Adelines in choruses, quartets, and various management and music teams. We are looking forward to having Jo direct our chorus for Regionals 2022! Please join us in warmly congratulating Jo as our front-line Director!

In addition to securing the position of Director during our on-line world, we are excited to announce that we welcomed five new members into our fold: Althea Adams, Jane Best, Janice Ballard, Christina Lawford, and Heather Pelletier. Additionally, we have the pleasure of hosting a university music student, Mei Chi Ha, each week. We are thrilled to have her join us as she learns about “a cappella chorus life”. We are looking forward to singing with all of them in person soon!

So with this growth, we are relieved to finally be able to sing in our rehearsal hall starting in February. We offer members the options to rehearse with us physically or virtually. For those that join us in-person, we continue to promote healthy rules, so that, fingers crossed, we can keep singing on the risers together. In addition to having vaccinations and masking requirements, we are using wrist-bands to indicate our comfort level with individual physical distances: Red – please keep your distance, yellow – ask me before coming closer, and green – come on, give me a hug! Okay, well, we are restricted from using these bands – for now, but we will be ready for the day when the ‘gates’ open again. After all, we are moving forward!
