Western Canada’s first World Champion Chorus! Lions Gate Chorus has been thrilling audiences with ringing 4-part a cappella harmony and outstanding showmanship since 1954
Lions Gate Chorus is a group of 100 members of all ages and backgrounds who live in the Greater Vancouver Area, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, and Northern Washington. These singers join forces and voices to create four-part a cappella music, covering styles ranging from barbershop to Broadway, jazz to pop. This Vancouver women’s choir is Internationally ranked and known the world over for pushing the boundaries of classic barbershop to create show packages that engage, entertain and thrill audiences, as seen on CityTV’s Canada’s Got Talent.
Our director, Sandy Marron, is a Master 700 Director, the highest designation possible, and is a Certified Sound Judge. She is a professional vocal coach, travelling the world to help quartets and choruses improve vocal skills and unit sound.
Being an International level competitor means we bring in the best coaches in the world. We are fortunate to call Master 700 Director Lori Lyford of the International Gold Medal-winning Scottsdale Chorus one of our primary musical coaches. We are also extremely pleased that our vocal production and vocal health is steeped in proper SOVT and SLS techniques as taught by vocal pedagogue Steve Scott (doctoral candidate), whom we also call friend & coach. Since we aren’t just about the vocal aspect of performance but the movement aspect as well, we are truly thrilled to have on our team one of the best choreographers in the Sweet Adelines organization, Jan Alexandersson from Sweden.
