We decided to have an educational event about singing A Capella, without actually connecting it with Battlefords Blend. Six people attended, five of whom had never intentionally sung without accompaniment. 

The Convention Steering Committee (CSC) is incredibly honoured to have hosted Region 26 in our beloved hometown of Edmonton for this year's contest.

Region 26 wins Ignite the Sound Vol 2 as the region with the greatest overall net % growth in Sweet Adelines Internationl.

After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic and not being able to meet in person as a region, I was so thrilled last spring to finally be able to award the second Cammi MacKinlay Leadership Excellence Award in person to the one and only Marcia Pinvidic!

Over 40 years, Prairie Gold achieved 30 regional awards, including receiving 8-1st place Small Chorus awards and 2 -1st place Mid-size Chorus awards. They have also received the award for Most Improved chorus twice.

Everything is Relative was the name for the Family Chorus that came together and sang during the Region 26 Contest weekend in Saskatoon (April 27-30, 2023). And it was at this conference I found out how aptly named the Family Chorus was! 

Hearing loss – something that isn’t usually talked about in ‘singing circles’. 

This article is a tribute to my first chorus – Prairie Gold - and a reflection of my years in Regina with this amazing SAI chorus. 

A couple of years ago, a message came across my computer about an “Arranger’s Course” that was being offered by Region 26. It was called the Arranger’s Certification Program.  I had no clue as to what this was about!

Lions Gate Chorus was thrilled to learn that our beloved director Sandy Marron would receive the prestigious Dr Paul Tamblyn Music Educator Award in the earlier part of this year.

It exceeded all our expectations by creating a new kind of experience – one that was magic, where creativity exploded, where bonds between Region 26 members were reinforced, and where the feeling of community was strengthened.

Congratulations to all involved in the production of an amazing weekend of friendship and song. Region 26 has much to be proud of, and many people to thank!

Congratulations to Joey Minshall on receiving the ACE Award for 2021. Joey is truly the epitome of all that the award represents. She has been an inspiration in Region 26 for many years. As a director, an arranger and a coach she has spread the love of barbershop and her amazing arrangements around the world. Search Joey’s name on Google and it is apparent how far her influence has spread.

Yvette was a genuinely caring and compassionate person who loved and gave so much to her family, her chorus, her friends, and all of God’s creatures. We’re glad we laughed, and loved, and sang (oh how we sang) together.
