This year’s Region 26 Competition in Saskatoon was a weekend full of music, friendship, and fun. Our first in-person competition since 2019 was the perfect opportunity to rekindle old friendships and to form new ones, making it an unforgettable experience.

Our Mother’s Day high tea was a huge success! We had a full house and our new members were amazing filling our sound and looking and singing like pros!

We want to express our gratitude to the women who produced and delivered Region #26, 2023 Convention and Competition in Saskatoon this spring. A huge job done well done – hats off to the Committee that made it happen after such a long drought.

So many stories to share preparing/travelling/singing- for Saskatoon.  We were anticipating changes as a result of our 3 year hiatus but no change in the warm welcome from Saskatoon. 

“Back for the Future” in Saskatoon was such fun for all of us at Westcoast, and we thank the many, many volunteers who put on this superb musical event and made us all feel so welcome!

Since Sweet Adelines International in Phoenix, Bewitched has been busy learning two new songs for our upcoming Back FOR The Future Regional in Saskatoon.

No time was wasted getting together to develop a plan for the international stage in Louisville Kentucky this fall.

Lions Gate has had a very busy fall and winter so far, with a move to a new rehearsal space, multiple community performances, a livestream performance with several more to come, coaching, and of course, preparations for Louisville well under-way!

In, Sept. 1981, 12 determined women gathered to discuss the idea of forming a new Sweet Adelines chorus in Regina. They set the plan in motion and by 1983, there were another 11 singers lined up. The Prairie Gold Chorus was officially chartered by Sweet Adelines International on Feb. 1, 1983.

The PAC debuted our songs for “Back FOR The Future” at our combined 50th Anniversary Christmas show in December 2022. 

This year is the 25th Anniversary of our Charter and we have several performances coming up including a big show in October.

Westcoast is still riding high from our 6th-place finish at International in Phoenix, and our excitement has paid off with an almost unprecedented influx of new members.

The White Spruce City Chorus had an Acapella Bootcamp in October 2022 in which 12 new members joined us for the Christmas season!

We feel galvanized with excitement about the future. The silver lining left by COVID is felt by everyone…we are more aware, rejuvenated and appreciative of each other and the freedom to sing once again for the public in person.

Looking back over the past few months – it’s been busy and satisfying.

Alberta Gold took a few weeks off during the summer, then we spent the Labour Day Monday at a Community Market/Food Trucks event to promote our chorus. We sang every hour and had so much fun.

Returning to live rehearsals in February 2022 was wonderful. Coming together in person was a happy & joyful reunion!

Chinook Winds is sad to acknowledge the loss of Valerie Kuelker, this beautiful soul who passed on October 4, 2022.

That Top Ten score, the first in our 57-year history, took us to the Finals, where we came away with a 6th-place International medal. We couldn’t be more proud.

Imagination, Hope, and tenacity do make dreams come true. As we run down the list of events planned during the pandemic, and tick each item off, we believe our chorus is the epitome of that theory and we’re reminded that no matter what comes our way, if it were not for looking to tomorrow – we would not be ready when the sun finally shines.
